The genesis of Trajectory was in 2015, out of the Advance Theatre Practice Masters at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Originally named Trendscendence, the pairing of Roderick Morgan and Danielle Mass explored interactive and intermedial digital performance. The pair’s shared interest in interpersonal connection, the future of the digital era, and the changing notions of reality, led them to experiment with the burgeoning virtual reality technology of the time.

After a number of iterations of the company – to have the greatest impact in the digital arts sector – in 2019, it was decided to register, formally, as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. This was achieved on 18 December 2019.
